Meet the beauty, brains and brawn making Rhapsody Fitness magic. CrossFit Level 3 Trainer along with an abundance of specialty certifications, he is the best of the best.
Alan Shaw grew up in Southern Indiana on a farm above his family’s limestone quarry, where adventure was part of everyday life—exploring caverns, racing ATVs through the woods, and spending endless hours outdoors. But despite an active childhood, he struggled with unhealthy habits and being overweight through much of his youth and early adulthood.
Everything changed when Alan moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater. Determined to transform his health, he immersed himself in fitness through running, yoga, and traditional gyms—but it wasn’t until he discovered CrossFit that he truly found his passion.
After walking into CrossFit NYC for a free intro class, Alan was hooked. The intensity, community, and constantly varied training completely transformed both his body and mindset. What started as a personal journey quickly became a calling.
Over the last decade, Alan has coached and trained hundreds of athletes ranging from beginners to high performers, helping people build strength, confidence, and resilience both inside and outside the gym. A former Broadway performer in Les Misérables, Alan now brings that same energy, connection, and passion for performance into every class and coaching session he leads.
Alan is a Certified CrossFit Trainer (CCFT/Level 3), NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and has completed extensive specialty training in weightlifting, gymnastics, aerobic capacity, adaptive training, running, programming, and advanced coaching development. He is also the founder of Rhapsody Fitness in Charleston, South Carolina, where he is known for creating an experience that is challenging, empowering, and deeply community-driven.
For Alan, fitness is about far more than workouts—it’s about helping people step into the strongest, healthiest, and most confident version of themselves.
