Because long lines, watered down cocktails and cover charges are overrated, come on out to a new kind of club – Rhapsody Barbell.

Spoiler alert, I’m obsessed with Olympic weightlifting. Few movements demand such strength, precision and, ultimately, finesse from an athlete.

Let’s be honest, there isn’t a whole lot that will give you a rush or cure what ails you like throwing around some heavy shiitakes.

Olympic weightlifting, however, can get a bad wrap. Without sufficient coaching, patience and practice, it is often where CrossFit athletes develop their regrettable habits, get stuck in their training, or, worst of all, hurt themselves.

At Rhapsody CrossFit, we are all about getting back to the barbell basics with Rhapsody Barbell. Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30PM, this class is dedicated to the two cornerstones of Olympic weightlifting – the snatch and the clean + jerk.

A New Kind Of Club – Rhapsody Barbell

For Experienced Members

Let’s strip it down (hey-ooo) and focus on one thing at a time. During most workouts, you are asked to hustle through 3-5 movements whereas Rhapsody Barbell is your chance to slow down and make those finite technique tweaks that are standing between you and your next PR.

Don’t you worry. We’ll get some weight on that bar and sweat equity paid. If you’ve had your Wheaties, you can even double-up and do the 5:30PM CrossFit class before going straight into Rhapsody Barbell. You’ll be nice and warm for your lifts…

For New Members

You are jumping into CrossFit with optimism and enthusiasm, but want extra time and attention to learn these complex lifts. I applaud you!

Rhapsody Barbell is a stellar opportunity to steadily practice one thing at a time and get both comfortable and confident with Olympic weightlifting. This class is all about the fundamentals and will give you that strong foundation from the start.

Added bonus to becoming an Olympic weightlifting sensai? Abundant dad jokes from yours truly (I still don’t know what “turnt” means…). Come see what this new kind of club is all about and join us for the next Rhapsody Barbell.

If you are new to Rhapsody CrossFit and a Charleston local, your first class is on me.
