By now the adrenaline has worn off and the reality of the grind ahead is settling in. You may be overwhelmed, exhausted and tempted to press pause on your fitness – hibernate with your quarantine snacks, flip on never-ending Netflix and sip your feelings until this all passes.

Snap out of it. This is what we train for.

Rhapsody Fitness

Head Coach Alan Shaw at Rhapsody Fitness in Charleston, SC.

CrossFit by design is all about constantly varied work intended to strengthen and condition you for whatever lies ahead. It is mental and physical training for the unknown and unknowable.

Every day you stepped inside the gym, you did so to tackle a fresh challenge and push yourself in a new way. You bought into the fundamental truth that you can either change and evolve or get left behind.

That dedication to your health and fitness is more important now than ever. You see, COVID wants you to tag out and give up. It wants you to put your health and fitness on the backburner. It wants you to slow down or stop, because then you are an easier mark.

But we are made of greater stuffs than that, aren’t we? We can do hard things. Like lift heavy bars. Climb ropes. Flip tires. Run miles. Pull and push ourselves up. Again and again.

Adjust and Adapt

I ask you now to continue showing up and doing what you know – adjust and adapt.

This week kicks off our quarterly member check-ins and goal-setting sessions at Rhapsody Fitness. Best believe those are still happening. Take stock of the fitness goals you set at the beginning of the year and ask yourself how they align with the opportunities you have today.

Want to set a new personal record for your 1-mile run? Let’s do it. Want to get that ironclad core? Go for it. Want to hone in on nutrition. Now is the time.

The greatest tragedy in all of this is if we emerge from it unchanged. I encourage you to take advantage of these strange times when life is oddly simple and there are fewer distractions. Stay vigilant in your practice, prioritize your health and make the choice to come out of all this better than you were before.

I cannot wait to see how you rise to this challenge. Full send!
