When you think about successfully reaching a goal, what images pop into your head? Do you picture yourself hitting that new PR? Can you see that magic number when you step onto the scale? Maybe you see yourself running effortlessly around the yard with your kids?
Images like these can be highly motivating. Visualizing the day when your goal is realized gives you some sense of what success will feel like. And that can help keep you working toward a goal.
However, to reach your long-term goals, you need to ask yourself an important question:
How will I be better tomorrow?
All too often, instead of prepping the small steps of a tomorrow, our focus remains on an end goal. But as some of you have probably experienced, a PR isn’t achieved without showing up each week, each day, to work out and work hard. When we lose track of the daily steps that are needed to reach a PR, it can either mean a delay in realizing your goal or that you continue to work toward something that you’re never quite able to achieve.
Success in life is a slow climb to a distant horizon.
With each day, you have the opportunity to take one more step toward your goals and aspirations. The trick is taking the time to define what you will do with each day until your goal is realized.
You need a plan that will get you to your horizon. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself dreaming every day about the outcome without making any tangible progress toward that goal.
So, how will you be better tomorrow? If you have a health and fitness goal in mind, but you’re not sure of the daily steps you need to take to hit that goal, our Rhapsody CrossFit coaches are here to help. Contact us today to get started.
