CrossFit is a great workout for people of all ages and skill levels, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all you should be including in your fitness regimen. There are many great ways you can supplement your Rhapsody CrossFit routine to add to your cardio, flexibility, endurance and more.

If you’re looking to spice up and maximize your own fitness regimen, try out some of these options that can complement your WODs.

A great option for improving flexibility and therefore decreasing the possibility of injury is yoga. With the dynamic and static poses held in yoga, you can stretch and strengthen your muscles over time. Plus, yoga styles vary in intensity and can range in whether you’re looking for a relaxing meditation session versus a sweat session. Restorative yoga can be great for recovery, whereas Bikram is held in a hot studio and designed to make you sweat!

Swimming

With so many cardio workout options available, it can be hard to choose exactly which one is right for you. Swimming offers a low-impact cardio exercise that works your entire body rather than just your legs. It’s also generally viewed as more fun than running and definitely easier on your joints!

Sleep

Perhaps one of the most undervalued fitness regimens is quality sleep. With the constant day to day grind, you need to maximize the restorative power of sleep. Here are some tips to becoming a better sleeper.

  • Aim to get 8.5-9 hours of quality sleep.
  • Cut caffeine 8-12 hours before bedtime.
  • End blue light exposure 2-3 hours before sleep.
  • Keep your bedroom temperature between 63-67 degrees.
  • Make sure your bedroom is fully blacked out.
