My Rhapsody: From pursuing higher education at MUSC to laughing her way to a 6-pack, Rachel DiGiacomo talks about finding her happy place at Rhapsody CrossFit in Charleston, SC.
What is your story?
I grew up an hour away from Charleston on Edisto Island and love living in the Lowcountry. I’m in my third year of physical therapy school at MUSC. When I’m not neck deep in a book, I enjoy being active and spending time outside in the sun. Most weekends you can find me at Sullivan’s Island Station 18 eating a pub sub.
What brought you to Rhapsody CrossFit?
Hannah Breal invited me to come to Rhapsody’s first Sweaty Saturday workout with her last summer, and I fell in love right away! I was drawn in by the inviting community atmosphere and charismatic energy of the coaches.
Joining Rhapsody was such an easy decision and I am so glad I did. Since then, “double trouble” has been a partner workout staple duo as we twerk our way through workouts.
What have you gotten out of your experience with Rhapsody CrossFit?
Since joining Rhapsody, I feel like my overall fitness has improved and I move better. I have gotten stronger physically and mentally.
The individualized goal setting at Rhapsody helped me focus on areas of weakness and forced me to face physical and mental obstacles I would otherwise ignore (handstands…).
Hanging out at Rhapsody is the highlight of my day!
What has being a part of the Rhapsody CrossFit community meant to you?
Being a part of the Rhapsody community means encouragement, entertainment and lots of laughs.
This supportive community encourages me to work hard every day and puts a smile on my face – even at 6AM! Our community celebrates victories together, both inside and outside of the gym, and genuinely cares about everyone who walks in the door.
The light-hearted atmosphere at Rhapsody keeps me laughing constantly – if I ever get a 6-pack it will be from laughing at Coach Alan’s jokes. I love the contagious positive energy I found at Rhapsody and want to share it with everyone.
Rachel, you are a perfect example of what it means to be positive, happy (even in a handstand…) and hungry for the next challenge – thank you for raising the bar among our Rhapsody CrossFit community! To get your sweat on with Rachel, sign up for your first class today!
