I don’t like contracts. Never have. It’s not that I have commitment issues – it’s that I struggle with being locked in with a business that should consistently be working for my hard earned dollars.
Fast forward to founding a business ourselves. When we started Rhapsody Fitness in Charleston, there was a lot of debate about membership contracts. As we all know, it’s a fairly standard fitness industry practice.
From a brass tax perspective, it boils down to cash flow and being able to plan around consistent revenue. There is also something to be said for skin in the game from both a gym and a prospective member. Getting fit doesn’t happen overnight, so if you’re serious, signing on for six months to a year reflects as much.
With that perspective in mind, we still couldn’t commit to contracts. Looking back at our growth, the community we’ve built and standards we’ve set, I am glad we made that choice and here’s why it will continue to be our practice moving forward.
-
Our signature member experience is second to none.
It is Team Rhapsody’s job to deliver and improve upon that experience to continually earn your trust and membership. Best believe, we practice what we preach on raising the bar.
-
I want you to want to be here.
Your health and fitness will only come from choices you make each and every day. You need to show up because you’re hungry for your best life and happy to be a part of our community – not because you’re locked into a contract.
-
Things change.
Whether you get that dream job too far from the gym or need to refocus finances elsewhere, life happens. We are not about to add pressure to transition and instead wish you all the best with what’s next. We will keep a barbell warm for you when you come back.
-
You’ll fall in love if you can just find the courage to start.
This is the big one. I truly believe in my heart that if I can get you into class, introduce you to our incredible community and get you going that you’ll be back for more. One less barrier to entry for you becoming your best.
